چکیده

Here we present a joint analysis of the geodetic, seismological and geological data March 2021 Northern Thessaly seismic sequence, that were gathered processed as April 30, 2021. First, relocated seismicity from regional local networks inferred dip-direction (NE) dip-angle (38°) 3, rupture plane. Furthermore, used ascending descending SAR images acquired by Sentinel-1 satellites to map co-seismic displacement field. Our results indicate Mw=6.3 occurred on NE-dipping, 39° normal fault located between villages Zarko (Trikala) Damasi (Larissa). The event 4, northwest Damasi, along oriented WNW-ESE produced less deformation than previous day. third 12, south-dipping fault. We computed 22 focal mechanisms aftershocks with M?4.0 using P-wave first motion polarities. Nearly all exhibit kinematics or have dominant dip-slip component. use InSAR was crucial differentiate ground ruptures. majority occurs in vertical component, maximum 0.39 m subsidence over plane, south west Damasi. A total amount 0.3 horizontal (E-W) measured. also GNSS (at 30-s sampling interval) twelve permanent stations near epicentres obtain 3D offsets station positions. Only produces significant at (as predicted models, themselves very well constrained InSAR). calculated several post-seismic interferograms, yet observed there is almost no deformation, except footwall area (Zarkos mountain). This below 7 mm level (quarter fringe) field 1 sites. cascading activation three events SE NW direction points pattern domino-style earthquakes, neighbouring segments. ruptures point counter-clockwise change extension upper crust (from NE-SW N-S towards northwest, Verdikoussa).

SAR interferometry: Tropospheric corrections from GPS observations

Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) techniques have been recognised as an ideal tool for many ground deformation monitoring applications. However, the spatially and temporally variable delay of the radar signal propagating through the atmosphere is a major limitation to accuracy. The dominant factor to be considered is the tropospheric heterogeneity, which can lead to misinterpreta...

Radon measurements along active faults in the Langadas Basin, northern Greece

A network of three radon stations has been established in the Langadas Basin, northern Greece for radon monitoring by various techniques in earthquake prediction studies. Specially made devices with plastic tubes including Alpha Track-etch Detectors (ATD) were installed for registering alpha particles from radon and radon decay products exhaled from the ground, every 2 weeks, by using LR-115, t...

Laboratory earthquakes along inhomogeneous faults: directionality and supershear.

We report on the experimental observation of spontaneously nucleated ruptures occurring on frictionally held bimaterial interfaces with small amounts of wave speed mismatch. Rupture is always found to be asymmetric bilateral. In one direction, rupture always propagates at the generalized Rayleigh wave speed, whereas in the opposite direction it is subshear or it transitions to supershear. The l...
